A man is facing firearms related-charges after making threats in Vista.
The investigation started on Wednesday, May 15 around 7:30 p.m. Deputies with the Vista Sheriff’s Station responded to 9-1-1 calls about a man chasing people with a gun in the 2000 block of Primrose Avenue in the unincorporated area of Vista.
The man left the scene in a pickup truck, but returned riding an off-road motorcycle. Witnesses say he confronted four people and threatened them with the gun before riding away from the area.
Deputies contacted the four victims who provided a description of the suspect and his direction of travel. Contrary to social media posts, witnesses confirmed to deputies no shots were fired at any time and no one was hurt.
With the information provided by witnesses, deputies searched the surrounding neighborhood and located the suspect’s house. Deputies served a search warrant and found a stash of weapons including rifles, shotguns and handguns. Hundreds of rounds of ammunition and tactical vests were also found.

Two of the firearms seized were privately manufactured or commonly referred to as ghost guns. Unlike legal, commercially manufactured firearms, ghost guns are not marked with serial numbers. There is no way to track their origins or their owners, making it difficult for law enforcement to investigate or solve a crime.
Christopher Loftis (DOB 7/25/1978) was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, possessing an assault weapon and owning or possessing a gun without a serial number.
The investigation is continuing.

La investigación comenzó el Miércoles 15 de Mayo alrededor de las 7:30 p.m. Los oficiales del Vista Sheriff’s Station respondieron a las llamadas al 9-1-1 sobre un hombre que perseguía a personas con un arma en la cuadra 2000 de Primrose Avenue en la Área No Incorporada de Vista.
El hombre abandonó el lugar en una camioneta, pero regresó en una motocicleta todoterreno. Los testigos dicen que se enfrentó a cuatro personas y las amenazó con el arma antes de alejarse de la zona.
Los oficiales se pusieron en contacto con las cuatro víctimas, quienes proporcionaron una descripción del sospechoso y su dirección de viaje. Contrariamente a las afirmaciones de las redes sociales, los testigos confirmaron a los oficiales que no hubo disparos en ningún momento y que nadie resultó herido.
Con la información proporcionada por los testigos, los oficiales registraron el vecindario circundante y localizaron la casa del sospechoso. Los oficiales cumplieron una orden de registro y encontraron un alijo de armas, incluidos rifles, escopetas y pistolas. También se encontraron cientos de rondas de municiones y chalecos tácticos.
Dos de las armas de fuego incautadas eran de fabricación privada o comúnmente conocidas como armas fantasma. A diferencia de las armas de fuego legales fabricadas comercialmente, las armas fantasma no están marcadas con números de serie. No hay forma de rastrear sus orígenes o sus dueños, lo que dificulta que las fuerzas del orden investiguen o resuelvan un crimen.
Christopher Loftis (fecha de nacimiento: 07/25/1978) fue ingresado en el Centro de Detención de Vista por cargos de asalto con un arma mortal, posesión de un arma de asalto y posesión de un arma sin número de serie.
