The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) dredges the Oceanside Harbor entrance annually to ensure safe navigation for vessels. The sand removed is placed on Oceanside beaches.
This year’s dredging operation is expected to begin March 5
The USACE expects a funding increase which will allow for over 50% more sand dredged than the usual average of around 235,000 cubic yards per year. Parking lot 12 in the Harbor will be closed beginning March 1 for operation staging and storage.
