On June 4, 2022, at 11:44 am, officers responded to a medical aid call at the intersection of Bush Street and Archer Street. While at the scene, officers found the victim had sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers provided medical aid until medics arrived and transported the patient to Tri-City Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. Crimes of Violence detectives responded and soon learned that the victim and her male friends were driving in a vehicle and were involved in an argument with an unknown male pedestrian. As the vehicle drove off, the unknown male shot at the vehicle. One round penetrated the rear of the vehicle and struck the victim.
The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Oceanside resident Chelsea Pacheco.
The suspect in this case has been identified as 25-year-old Oceanside gang member Vicente Huerta. Huerta is a Hispanic male adult, 6’3”, 200-230lbs, with a shaved head. Huerta has a tattoo over his right eyebrow and a large “3” tattoo on the top of his head. Huerta remains outstanding.
