Labor Day Safety Measures For The Carlsbad Village

The level of relief and even excitement in the Village that salons and other businesses are finally able to reopen, and in-room dining is returning (with some capacity restrictions), is palpable. After months of adhering to the rules and safety protocols, it appears that we are turning the corner in a positive direction. But this is when we need the help of every business owner and employee, as well as our locals and visitors even more to keep the trend moving in the right direction. We have the ability to make that happen, especially by being smart this Labor Day holiday weekend. To that end, increased messaging about the importance of mask wearing, proper sanitization efforts, and good hygiene is being emphasized to hotels and local businesses over the next several days.

Now is not the time to relax these standards.

Measures being implemented by the City of Carlsbad also include hosting an educational tent at the grassy triangle on Carlsbad Blvd., as well as on the beach below, to hand out masks to help encourage compliance with the health order. Our own City Manager will be staffing the booth this weekend, along with other city staff and Carlsbad Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers. In anticipation of a hot holiday weekend with increased beach activity, enhanced police and fire patrols are also scheduled. For more information on this and other safety measures planned for the Labor Day holiday weekend, read the City Manager’s Update (posted every Tuesday and Thursday) at www.carlsbadca.gov.
