San Diego County’s Little Free Library initiative boosts literacy and provides families more access to books and reading in their homes. The “little libraries” are a part of the non-profit book sharing movement in which a container is placed in a location, where anyone can leave or take books – for free.

The City of Vista Mayor and Council will gather with County officials and the Vista Community Clinic (VCC) on Friday, April 22 at 3 pm to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the first ‘Little Free Library’ to be installed in Vista. The event takes place in Luz Duran Park on Friday, April 22, at 3 pm. After the official ceremony, kid-friendly activities will be offered free to the public until 5 pm.

The Vista “little library” was initiated by the Vista Community Clinic through the County of San Diego and the VCC will manage the program. The public is invited to join the celebration. Luz Duran Park is located at 340 Townsite Drive in Vista.
