Mariachi Class Created at Rancho Buena Vista High School

The Vista Education Foundation is supporting the newly created Mariachi class in the Vista Unified School District at RBVHS. This is the second class we have supported to be formed in VUSD, the first being at Vista High School some 5 years ago that is still active.

Vista Education Foundation is a 100% volunteer 501(c)3 organization, EIN 84-1647372, POB 1114, Vista CA, 92085, is founded to provide funds for the Arts, STEM, Scholarships and Internships/Apprenticeships needs that are not provided for in the State budget.

Since our incorporation in 2004 we have continuously provided funding support to our districts (21) elementary, (6) middle and (6) high public schools.

Our district’s minority enrollment is 77% Hispanic with a diversity score of 66%. This student population has an option to take traditional (western) concert band, class, which limit the diversity of available music genre options from which to choose. Hispanic students being more familiar with string instruments such as guitarron, vihuela, guitars and violins from their musical heritage background have a desire to learn Mariachi, which they find comforting. Additionally, the parents and community at large have expressed an interest over decades to experience a MARIACHI AT THE MOONLIGHT concert.

The Vista Education has provided funds to Vista High School and Rancho Buena Vista High school Mariachi classes for the purchase of instruments. Most recently in October, November and December of 2022 VEF has provided Band Director Eric Weirather and Mariachi class teacher Clarissa Fallorina: 4 new violins and shoulder holders, six new guitars, replacement strings for the instruments, and 3 new trumpets.

An immediate need exists for the specialty instruments that are the heart and soul of a Mariachi: three GUITARRONS and four VIHUELAS!

So I reach out to you. Vista Education Foundation must raise funds from the community at large so we may fund programs such as this that are not on the curriculum and not on the budget.

If not us, WHO? If not Now, When?

Please consider a donation of $5 to $100 or more this programs for our kids. Deeds and love go much further than words and good wishes.
