Escondido – Yesterday, Assemblymember Marie Waldron (R -Valley Center) announced that she has secured $8 million in state funding for the Deer Springs Fire Protection District. The funds will be used to build a new permanent facility near the intersection of Deer Springs Rd. and the I-15 freeway. ”The funding will help sustain the Deer Springs Fire Department as a crucial regional asset in San Diego County, with new facilities for training firefighters and improving emergency response along the I-15 corridor,” said Waldron.
“I’ve been working for years to improve safety and wildfire resilience in the rural areas of San Diego County. I am happy that my efforts to secure these funds were successful and that the Deer Springs Fire Protection District will be able to protect cities and rural communities throughout the county for decades to come,” added Waldron.
