OCEANSIDE, CA — On March 12, 2026, the Oceanside Police Department, in coordination with agents and task force officers from the DEA Carlsbad Resident Office, agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), and detectives from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET), conducted vape and smoke shop compliance checks at four locations within the City of Oceanside.
During the operation, investigators seized a significant quantity of products believed to contain
controlled substances and other regulated items, including products suspected to contain psilocybin, THC, and kratom. In total, more than 100 pounds of illegal products were recovered and removed from circulation.
Four individuals were found to be in violation of state regulations and will face administrative
penalties and fines issued by the State.
In a statement from the DEA, Special Agent in Charge James Nunnallee stated, “Vaping devices threaten our public safety. Oftentimes, youth don’t know what is hiding in these devices. DEA is dedicated to keeping the community safe and drug free.”
Operations like this reflect the continued collaboration between local, state, and federal partners to ensure businesses operate in compliance with state law and to prevent the unlawful sale of regulated or controlled substances within the community.
