On Tuesday, August 3, 2021, the community of Vista gathered with friends and families on a sunny evening at the Vista City Hall complex. National Night Out Against Crime was hosted by the Vista Sheriff’s Station and Substations across the county in a family friendly community event to take a stand against crime. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes law enforcement-neighborhood partnerships and camaraderie.
Families met with local Sheriff’s Deputies, local Firefighters and community vendors and received public safety resources. Crime Prevention Specialists also shared tips on how to keep families safe. Many vendors featured giveaways and more.
After the official event at the Vista Civic Center, Mayor Ritter and Deputy Mayor Green, members of the Sheriff’s Department and the Vista Firefighters joined a neighborhood street party. The party was a potluck neighbor get together to introduce each other, because neighbors do not always know their neighbors. The goal is to set an example of how to get a neighborhood together and next year there will be many attending neighborhood parties throughout Vista.
