When: 2 p.m., January 29, 2022
Where: Veterans Association of North County, 1617 Mission Ave, Oceanside
Why: To engage a community dialogue about issues facing our City

As a U.S. Air Force veteran, Darin Selnick knows what it means to serve his country and his community. That’s why he’s decided to run for the seat as Oceanside City Council District 1. Selnick will discuss his issue-oriented platform at this town hall, and he will announce two policy initiatives. These include a Homelessness and a Military and Veterans Affairs Commission.

In addition to these two announcements, Selnick will discuss his platform, including public safety initiatives, common sense development, and ways to improve recreational venues in the City of Oceanside.

“I’m hoping this town hall will bring citizens from our City out to discuss issues and find solutions. As a councilman, my goal will be to partner with our residents, non-profits, veterans groups, and businesses to have a community approach to resolving our City’s problems,” said Selnick.

Selnick will share the stage with special guest speakers, including:

Former Oceanside City Councilman Honorable Jack Feller. Feller served 20 years as a city councilman and was instrumental in positioning the City for the success it has been achieving with attracting new hotels, businesses, homes, and increased tourism.
Fernando Garcia – Marine Corps Veteran who served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan and retired after 20 years. He is a community leader who serves on various veteran non-profits and his homeowner’s association board of directors.

Selnick is running for the seat to make a positive contribution to the future of Oceanside by bringing his private sector business experience, government, and community involvement to move the City forward and solve current and future challenges. He hopes to ensure that Oceanside is a desirable place to live, work, do business, and visit. However, he says the City is at a crossroads in its future direction. There is much work regarding homelessness, public safety, roads, parks and recreation, housing, and attracting and supporting a diversity of businesses.
