The City of Oceanside benefits from a cadre of dedicated volunteers that enhance the service the department is able to provide to our residents. What started in 1995 with a small group has now grown to a large team of multitalented members. Senior Volunteers are required to be fifty years or older and be residents of Oceanside. The Senior Volunteer Program is designed for senior citizens who wish to serve their community while working in partnership with police to promote public safety and service programs.

One example of the programs that our Senior Volunteers participate in is a vacation check service. Volunteers will periodically check in on your residence for you while you are away. This is a free service provided to help reduce burglaries in our communities. Please call 760-435-4763 to enroll prior to your taking a trip.

Another amazing example of the work our volunteers lead is the You Are Not Alone program, known as YANA. Homebound Oceanside residents enrolled in the YANA program receive regularly scheduled visits from volunteers at their home to ensure their basic needs are met and provide a direct link to the department for any additional services that may be needed.

If you are interested in enrolling in a program offered by our volunteers or would like to join the team, please contact 760-435-4763. Thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers for the time and effort put in to make Oceanside a great place to live, work, and play.

Additionally, we are actively seeking police officers and multiple professional staff members to help make a difference in the community. Please visit joinopd.net to learn about the variety of career opportunities currently available.

Lastly, please visit Oceanside PD on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for additional crime prevention tips and more. We look forward to connecting with you.
