Oceanside Small Business Grants

Oceanside, Calif. — Aug. 18, 2020: On May 19, 2020, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors allocated $3,138,961 in Federal Corona Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds to the City of Oceanside. On June 17, 2020, the Oceanside City Council approved a spending plan for the funds, which included $100,000 for grants to small businesses. MainStreet Oceanside and the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce will manage grant programs to disburse the funds to eligible Oceanside businesses. MainStreet will manage a grant program for eligible Downtown Oceanside businesses, and the Chamber will manage a grant program for businesses citywide (outside of MainStreet’s District).

Eligible businesses include independently owned consumer-oriented businesses engaged in retail sales and consumer/business services located in Oceanside that have been mandated by government action or decree to close or significantly alter their business activity due to COVID-19.

Grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 will be awarded based on a standard rubric factoring in business tier and financial impact of COVID-19. The selection process will take into consideration the year-over-year financial impact on the applicants as shown on profit and loss statements, as well as the significance with which they have had to alter their business operations to comply with mandated government action.

“Our local businesses have been hit hard by this pandemic with regard to closures and modifications to their operations. We are pleased to partner with the City to help administer a program that can bring a bit of relief to our small business owners,” said Scott Ashton, CEO of the Chamber.

Rick Wright, Executive Director of MainStreet Oceanside added, “We are delighted to bring this much needed assistance to our MainStreet Oceanside district businesses.”
