The City of Oceanside is preparing to start the final segment of the 21-mile Inland Rail Trail, connecting Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, and Escondido, with a $438,471 Caltrans grant. This Class I bikeway will follow the Sprinter rail line, separated from traffic by fences and walls, and will include landscaping, lighting, and connections to Sprinter stations. Once completed, the trail aims to enhance transportation options, improve traffic safety, reduce congestion, and boost the local economy by linking communities and promoting eco-friendly travel in North County. The trail is a priority project for SANDAG and is part of the San Diego Regional Bike Plan Early Action Program (EAP).
