Over $100,000 in Community Arts Grants Awarded

The City of Carlsbad’s Cultural Arts Office has awarded $106,480 in Community Arts Grants to fund 29 local arts projects for the 2021-2022 cycle with four new grantees including a print-making workshop and a Latin-American music residency. This is a new funding record approved by City Council, up from $88,000 the previous cycle. Funds are available through a competitive application and review process for organizations, schools and individuals for visual, media, literary and performing arts projects taking place in Carlsbad. These projects serve to enrich our local arts culture and create quality programming. During this cycle, applicants, panelists, Arts Commissioners and city staff experienced the city’s new online cloud-based grants software, designed for an improved user experience and greater efficiencies. The next grant cycle opens in spring 2022.

Cultural Arts Manager Richard Schultz remarked, “While it has never been more challenging to create art in any form, it has never been easier to make the case of the vital need for the arts. The arts are a lifeline for so many during the pandemic. The Cultural Arts Office is proud to offer support to so many worthy arts projects throughout our community.”
