About Queen Califia’s Magical Circle
Queen Califia’s Magical Circle is the only American sculpture garden by Niki de Saint Phalle, one of the world’s most celebrated female sculptors. Opened in 2003, the garden features massive, whimsical mosaic sculptures inspired by California history, mythology, and the artist’s bold, imaginative vision. It continues to attract thousands of visitors from across the region and beyond. It is also the last work of the late artist and was finished shortly after her passing.
As we mark 22 years since its opening, the City of Escondido reaffirms its gratitude for this extraordinary gift, and invites all to join in honoring Niki de Saint Phalle’s enduring legacy through celebration, art, and community.
