Rancho Buena Vista High School Retires Baseball Jerseys and Names Baseball Field

On Saturday, January 19, 2020, during a beautiful sunny winter day in Vista CA, hundreds gathered at the Rancho Buena Vista High School Longhorns field. This occasion was to celebrate the retirement of four player Jerseys and to name the field after Ranchos’ legendary baseball coach. The four players honored were Tony Wolters #9, Jesse English #14, Dave Roberts #10 and Steve Hargrave #26. Many former players and Rancho Alumni enjoyed the reunion and had not seen each other in years.

A scrimmage game was then played with a mixture of current and former players. After the game, a ceremony was hosted by Coach John Kentera from 97.3 The Fan. The Coach read a BIO on each of the honorees:
Jesse English, 2002 graduate, former Major League player, is now Head Coach for Rancho Buena Vista High School.
Tony Wolters, 2010 graduate, is currently a catcher for the Colorado Rockies.
Dave Roberts, 1990 graduate, is the current Major League Manager for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Steve Hargrave, was Head Coach of RBVHS from 1987-2004. The baseball complex was officially named the Steve Hargrave Field.
