RBV Photo Students Recognized by Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park

Kelly Clark, Photo Teacher at Rancho Buena Vista High School, announced that the following students were accepted into the very competitive juried student art show at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. “Usually we’re thrilled to get one kid in every other year, but this time we’ve recognized EIGHT students out of only 56 selected from all over San Diego and Tijuana! That is insane!”, Kelly said. The show will be up in the museum beginning May 22nd. Here is the website for the museum- https://mopa.org/. It will be showcasing this year and last year’s student show as the museum has been closed since last March and just reopening this week.

This year’s theme is ‘Space’ and here are the winning entries!

Geovany Rosales, 11th grade -SECOND TIME getting into the juried art show!

Geovany Rosales. “The word “SPACE” can be interpreted in many different ways depending on the person. As for me, I believe space is a place that every human being has. It is the place where memories lie and the characteristics that make up who you are as a person. From the past, to the present, the space you have constructed in this lifetime will ultimately end up representing the story of your life.”

Joe Schilling, 12th grade

Joseph Schilling. “This picture represents the space that separates us from others. There is a world around us, and people living a completely different life than we do.”

America Velasco, 11th grade

America Velasco. “When I think about space the first things I think about are peace, serenity, and beauty. For me music is all those things. Listening to music transports me to a different head space. It feels like I’m floating in darkness with nothing but the music surrounding me. All the worries and stress I have are thrown out the window, as I pay attention to only the melody and lyrics of the song.”

Kelly said, “I am so proud of how incredibly creative and resourceful our Longhorns have been working remotely!”
