Residential Fire in Vista UPDATE

At 1854 hours on 5/23/2020, Vista Fire Department personnel responded to reports of a fire in the area of Robelini and El Valle Opulento in the unincorporated area of Vista. There were conflicting reports of a vegetation or a structure fire. The first fire engine arrived on scene at 1900 hours and found a vegetation fire extending into the house at 110 El Valle Opulento. The firefighters attacked the vegetation fire as other firefighters entered the structureto extinguish the interior fire. Due to rapidly deteriorating conditions inside the home, firefighters were pulled out at 1920 and the fire was fought from the exterior. The fire was fully extinguished within the hour.
One resident of the home was displaced. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The San Marcos and Carlsbad Fire Departments provided assistance to the Vista Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and there is no determination on the property value lost.
Homeowners are encouraged to have working smoke alarms in their homes. Additionally, vegetation should be cleared away from any structure.
