On September 4, 2025, as part of an ongoing investigation, the San Marcos Area Detectives served a search warrant at an apartment in the 400 block of Smilax Road in the city of San Marcos. The resident and suspect Weston Strawn was stopped and arrested outside of his apartment as he was walking to his vehicle.
During the subsequent search of the apartment and detached garage, San Marcos Detectives recovered several trading cards that were stolen from a vending machine in the 1200 block of West Mission Road in the city of San Marcos. Strawn had targeted the vending machine on two separate occasions, and the thefts caused extensive damage to the machine.
During the service of the search warrant, detectives located stolen property from a separate theft case. Strawn was identified as the suspect in that case as well.
The approximate value of the property recovered was $4500.
Weston Strawn was booked into the Vista Jail for three separate charges of grand theft.
