Trail access into the new San Marcos Highlands Development Project, located at the northern end of Las Posas Road, are currently closed due to construction. Access from the City-maintained Las Posas Trail and Santa Fe Hills Trail, as well as access to the Highland area’s private unimproved trails, will remain closed until the project’s completion in 2022.
Once the housing project is complete, the Highlands subdivision will provide approximately 3.3 miles of City-improved trails along Las Posas Road and from Ardilla Way to the future City park located within the new subdivision. The public will also have access to the natural trails located throughout the approximately 200-acre Highlands preserved open space area.
