The City of San Marcos recently launched a public web-based research tool to help businesses look for suitable locations that comply with zoning regulations. After identifying the type of business and answering questions about characteristics of the preferred locations, the tool will provide anticipated compliance with zoning regulations. The zoning portal allows business owners to examine the City’s zoning map to identify potential zoning permitting requirements for varying locations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in multiple languages, and makes staff more accessible if questions arise.
“The City is proud to offer this additional tool to current and future business owners. We consistently work to make the business process easier for those in the San Marcos area. The City strives to assist business owners as they drive the San Marcos economy,” said Mayor Rebecca Jones.
Current and future business owners can find the tool on the Business Resources webpage of the City’s website (http://www.san-marcos.net) and then select the “Access the Zoning Portal” button. Additional resources are also available such as “Steps to Starting a Business” and “More About Licensing”. “By providing these tools and streamlining processes we hope to encourage more businesses to establish themselves in San Marcos to advance their success,” said Mayor Jones. For additional information, businesses can visit the Business Resources webpage on the City’s website.
