CARLSBAD, Calif. — On May 5 at 9:03 p.m., Officers from the Carlsbad Police Department responded to northbound Carlsbad Boulevard at Tierra del Oro Street regarding are port of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers located a male lying in the northbound bike lane. The male suffered a serious head injury and was transported by the Fire Department to a local area hospital.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the unidentified male pedestrian was intoxicated and proceeding eastbound in an area of roadway with no crosswalk when the driver of a Toyota Tacoma was travelling northbound on Carlsbad Blvd and struck the pedestrian. The driver of the Tacoma, an 18 year-old female, remained at the scene.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing. Investigators are requesting anyone that witnessed the collision to call Carlsbad Police Department Accident Investigator, Corporal Travis Anderson at 760-931-2208.
