A new sewer pipeline is being installed along Palomar Airport Road in Carlsbad that will transport wastewater from the Buena Sanitation District in Vista to the Encina Water Pollution Control Facility in Carlsbad.
Work along Paseo del Norte will take place during the day, but at least one lane of traffic will remain open at all times, and access to local businesses will be maintained. Work along Palomar Airport Road will be done at night to reduce inconveniences to drivers on this busy road.
The project is being led by the Buena Sanitation District, a special district managed by the City of Vista. The Encina Water Pollution Control Facility collects and treats wastewater from six agencies: the cities of Carlsbad, Encinitas and Vista, as well as the Buena Sanitation District, the Leucadia Wastewater District, Vallecitos Water District
The sewer project will move the pipe out of environmentally sensitive areas, make the infrastructure easier to maintain, reduce the potential for sewage overflows and provide additional capacity.
