Special Education Teacher Given Car by Local Business Owner

On Thursday December 1, 2022, local business owner TJ Crossman of TJ Crossman’s Auto Repair presented a 2012 Ford Focus SE to Amy Spoelstra, a Special Education Teacher at California Avenue School in Vista, California. This was a total surprise for her. She has been without transportation as her car had stopped working.

This all started out with a group of auto shop owners in the United States during a conference in Tennessee that TJ Crossman had been attending. “I mentioned we were all doing better in our businesses and could now have the ability to afford a better lifestyle and we should share that with others in our community,” TJ said. “Who wants to give a car away a day for December?”

“We received a lot of attention from that and we have about 15 shops across the nation that are willing to participate and give away a car a day for the month of December. Today is December 1, 2022 and the kickoff, and now it will be up to everyone else. We are calling this “Cars for the Community”, TJ said. TJ Crossman has given away many cars over the years.

As you can see in the Video, she was definitely shocked and surprised. Along with the car she was also given a Christmas tree and $200 in gift cards for gas and other needs.

Be sure to watch Jeff Zevely with “The Zevely Zone” today on CBS Channel 8, to see the car presented to her.
