NORTH COUNTY — Some new faces have emerged as efforts ramp up leading into local elections for the March 5 primary and the general election in November.
The big three congressional races kick off on March 5 and feature Democrat incumbents Mike Levin (CA-49) and Scott Peters (CA-50) and Republican incumbent Darrell Issa (CA-48). Another high-profile race is for the District 3 seat on the San Diego County Board of Supervisors with Democrat incumbent Terra Lawson-Remer being challenged by former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, a Republican.
Since there are only two candidates in the supervisor’s race, there will be no primary as both advance to the November general election.
Also, several new faces in Carlsbad, Escondido and San Marcos have announced their intentions, although all is quiet, so far, regarding candidate announcements in Encinitas, Del Mar and Solana Beach. However, some candidates are expected to announce their candidacy in those cities in the coming months, according to sources.
