As part of the Beachfront Improvements Project, a two-block section of The Strand between Seagaze Drive and Pier View Way will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic for sewer line activities and concrete replacement. Pedestrian access will remain available. This will occur in the first week of October and is estimated to reopen in 6-8 weeks. The Beachfront Improvements Project is funded largely by a grant award of nearly $8 million from the State of California Natural Resources Agency. The project remodels the historic bathhouse building to serve as a new Police Department Substation. A new building will be constructed to include restrooms and inviting storefront areas. A new, wider staircase will be built with a landscaped viewing area. The existing sewer lift station is being reconstructed. Learn more about this exciting project: Video
