Temporary Trail Closures at Lake Calavera for Maintenance

Starting Monday, May 20, sections of the Lake Loop Trail on the south side of Lake Calavera will be closed while crews perform trail maintenance work. Workers will smooth out and fill in deep grooves caused by erosion from winter storms. The trail is expected to fully reopen early this summer. Please check the city’s website for updates.

Trail maintenance will occur in two phases, shown on the map below.

Phase 1: Starting next week, crews will improve the trail in the area shown in orange.
Phase 2: Workers will begin work on the blue section of the trail when the first phase is complete. This work is expected to start in June.

What to expect

Be on the lookout for trail closure signs.
Please stay off the closed trail sections and use caution around the work area.
When the trail is closed, access around the entire lake will be unavailable.
Work will occur Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The trail will reopen on weekdays after 6 p.m. and remain open on the weekends.
No work is scheduled on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to make the trails safer and more enjoyable.
