The North County Food Bank’s leased facility will enable us to further expand our services in communities throughout the North County region.
The move from our 5,000-square-foot leased warehouse in San Marcos to our newly leased 30,000-square-foot warehouse in Vista will enable the Food Bank to increase the amount of food that we can distribute to the region.
Currently, the North County Food Bank distributes more than 6 million pounds of food, including fresh produce, annually to the North County region, and we anticipate that the amount of food that we distribute and the number of families served monthly will significantly increase with the opening of the new facility.
The new facility features multiple loading docks, walk-in refrigeration units, warehouse racking for food storage, a client-choice food pantry for families to receive emergency food packages, and a dedicated volunteer work area in the body of our warehouse.
This area will provide much needed additional space for large volunteer groups to support our vital mission by inspecting, sorting and packaging food for those in need in North County.
In addition, the newly leased North County Food Bank facility will serve as the San Diego Food Banks’ new Diaper Bank Program staging area which will facilitate the distribution of more than half a million emergency diapers for families in need countywide.
The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and our North County Food Bank chapter have the only registered Diaper Bank Program in San Diego County through the National Diaper Bank Network.
History of the North County Food Bank
In October 2015, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank acquired the North County Food Bank. The acquisition has enabled both food banks to meet previously unmet need in North County, and it expanded the Food Bank’s network of nonprofit distribution partners to more than 500. With additional resources from the acquisition, the North County Food Bank is now serving 30,000 more people every month in communities throughout North County.

The North County Food Bank’s Open House & Welcome Reception will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at our newly leased facility located at 1445 Engineer Street, Suite 110, Vista, CA 92081.
