Tri-City Medical Center had faced financial challenges and low delivery rates, leading to the need for a partnership. UC San Diego Health plans to invest $170 million in the first two years. Tri-City’s takeover follows UC San Diego’s recent acquisition of Alvarado Hospital Medical Center, a community hospital serving eastern San Diego.
