Today around 0800 hours, a written message was located inside a boy’s restroom at Vista High School. The message was vague but threatening in nature.
A second incident was reported at Rancho Buena Vista High School. Similar to the incident at Vista High School, a message was located inside a boy’s restroom. The message also appeared to be threatening in nature.
School personnel contacted the Sheriff’s Department. Vista Patrol Station School Resource Officers, along with detectives, responded to investigate the threats. The Sheriff’s Department has been working with Vista Unified School District to investigate these incidents. All threats are taken seriously and those found responsible will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Currently, there is no evidence to suggest these threats are credible or related.
As a precaution, there will be an increased law enforcement presence at the schools tomorrow to ensure public safety. The Sheriff’s Department encourages those observing suspicious activity or behavior to call the Sheriff’s Communications Center at 858-565-5200 or 911 during emergencies.
