Urban Corps of San Diego County, Escondido Mayor Dane White, Escondido School Superintendent Dr. Luis Rankins-Ibarra, Tree San Diego and FedEx employee volunteers joined the students of Rocks Spring Elementary School to plant trees near the elementary school campus on St. Patrick’s Day. The trees will help build Escondido’s urban forest and provide shade and beautification to the neighborhood. Funding for the project was provided through a grant from One Tree Planted with support from FedEx Cares.
“It is great to build partnerships with people and other organizations that want to work together to make our county a better place to live,” said Kyle Kennedy, CEO, Urban Corps of San Diego County. “We are grateful to One Tree Planted for funding this project and appreciate the Escondido School District, Rock Springs Elementary and the FedEx employees who helped us plant the trees that will make Escondido an even more beautiful city to live in.”
This is one of 27 projects that One Tree Planted is supporting across the United States as part of their Urban Forestry Action Fund – a portfolio of high-impact urban forestry projects aimed at planting urban trees to address environmental justice issues such as heat, air pollution and lack of community greenspaces and ultimately help communities achieve tree equity.
