he City of Carlsbad is seeking residents interested in filling three vacancies on two city advisory commissions.
Applications are available on the city’s website or in the City Clerk’s Office, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive, and must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by noon on Monday, March 21.
Arts Commission
There are two scheduled vacancies on the City of Carlsbad Arts Commission for terms that run from March 2022 to March 2026.
The Arts Commission advises and makes recommendations to the City Council implementation of the arts element of the Carlsbad General Plan, as well as initiatives in the 2018 Arts & Culture Master Plan, including grants and arts funding, reviewing public art proposals and more.
The Arts Commission normally meets at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at the City Council Chamber at Carlsbad City Hall, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive.
Applicants must be Carlsbad residents and registered to vote in the city.
Historic Preservation Commission
There is one unscheduled vacancy on the city’s Historic Preservation Commission for a term that runs through April 2024
The Historic Preservation Commission advises the City Council and Planning Commission in all matters relating to the identification, protection, retention and preservation of historic areas and sites within the city.
For this vacancy, applicants must have a background or interest in architecture, archeology, history, biology, engineering, geology, or a related field.
Applicants must Carlsbad residents who are registered to vote in the city.
Meetings are held the second Monday of each odd numbered month at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008.
Residents who serve on these volunteer advisory panels are required to complete two hours of ethics training every two years and file a Fair Political Practices Commission Form 700 annual statement of economic interests. This statement, which is a public document, details a person’s financial interests such as property ownership and business ownership.
