Via Vera Cruz closure starts Thursday, Sept. 21: The project team has confirmed the full closure of Via Vera Cruz will begin on Thursday, Sept. 21. The closure is expected to last a few months. Once complete, Via Vera Cruz and the bridge will reopen at the same time to through traffic.
As a reminder, the construction crew will be working on the following items while the road is closed:
Installing storm drains
Installing curbs and gutters
Paving the road and sidewalks
Striping the road and adding bike lanes
VVC Closure
Support local businesses during construction: Please support businesses in the Galleria Vera Cruz (1001-1003 W San Marcos Blvd.) and Via Marco Plaza (997 W San Marcos Blvd.) shopping centers as construction continues in the San Marcos Creek area. Businesses remain open and accessible from San Marcos Boulevard. From restaurants to salons and dentists to professional services, their doors are open during construction. New construction schedule is almost complete: SDG&E is in the last phase of their work on Discovery Street to underground permanent power lines in the area. Currently, we expect this work to be completed early next month, and once it is done, AT&T will be able to move their lines underground as well.
A revised schedule for construction completion will be finalized and shared once this utility work is done. We will open Via Vera Cruz as soon as it’s ready. As always, we appreciate everyone’s ongoing patience during construction.
