Vista, CA — The Vista Chamber of Commerce is proud to host a regional competition for the National Civics Bee, bringing together middle school students from across the region to demonstrate their knowledge of civics and their passion for community engagement. The event will take place in Vista this Saturday, March 21 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the AVO Playhouse (303 Main St.) and will highlight the importance of civic education and empowering young people to become informed, responsible citizens.

Organized in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the National Civics Bee encourages students to learn more about American government, civic participation, and how they can make a difference in their communities. Participants advance to the regional competition by submitting essays describing a community issue they care about and proposing thoughtful solutions.

During the competition, students will participate in multiple rounds of civics-based questions and showcase their understanding of topics such as the Constitution, branches of government, and civic responsibilities. Finalists will also present their ideas for addressing real challenges in their communities.

“We are excited to bring the National Civics Bee to Vista and provide students with an opportunity to explore the importance of civic engagement,” said Rachel Beld, CEO of the Vista Chamber of Commerce. “Encouraging young people to learn about how government works and how they can get involved helps build stronger communities and prepares the next generation of leaders.”

The Vista Chamber of Commerce is honored to welcome a distinguished panel of judges who will evaluate student performances and presentations:
Jeffrey Fox, City of Vista Councilmember
Denisse Barragan, Fix Auto Vista
Zeke Corley, Your Insurance Place

The event will welcome students, families, educators, and community members to celebrate academic achievement and civic involvement. Winners of the regional competition will advance to the state-level competition in Sacramento, where they will compete for additional recognition and scholarships.
The Vista Chamber of Commerce remains committed to supporting educational opportunities that inspire leadership, critical thinking, and community engagement among local youth.
