On June 22, 2021 the City Council approved the use of adult use cannabis sales in the 11 medicinal cannabis storefronts already established under the voter approved 2018 Measure Z initiative. The businesses will be allowed to sell cannabis to adults 21 and over, starting July 23, 2021; but must first apply for state and local permits to sell the adult use cannabis.
The City receives tax revenues from the sales of cannabis, which help fund city services, including community parks, senior and youth programs, public safety, and other top priorities for Vista residents.
