Vista, CA – This September, Vista Community Clinic (VCC) is recognizing National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month and reaffirming its commitment to supporting
families in building healthier futures through education, prevention, and access to care. Childhood obesity can increase the risk of serious health conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. But with early intervention and community support, these outcomes can often be prevented
“At Vista Community Clinic, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy and strong,” said Dr. Gunta, Director of Pediatric Services. “That’s why our team works closely with families to provide culturally sensitive nutrition guidance, guided expertise on medical interventions when needed and connects them to community resources that empower parents to make healthy choices for their children.” Regular check-ups are one of the best ways for parents to keep track of their child’s growth and overall health. During these visits, providers can monitor height, weight, development, and other metabolic parameters while also offering guidance on nutrition and lifestyle. They also provide a safe space for parents to bring up any questions or concerns about their child’s risk for obesity or other health challenges. These conversations help families create healthy routines early on and ensure children stay on track for lifelong wellness.
VCC’s pediatric teams are available year-round to support families with personalized care and community-based resources.
