Vista High School Air Force Junior ROTC CA-953 Unit Awards

Last Friday night at Dick Haines Stadium the Vista High School Air Force Junior ROTC Cadets took part in a Pass-In-Review Ceremony that also included recognition of their graduating Seniors and awarding both National Awards and Unit Awards to Cadet recipients. The National Award recipients were recognized in an article about the event appearing earlier in the week. The following lists are the Unit Awards handed out recognizing individual Vista High School Air Force Junior ROTC Cadets in a variety of award categories.
The First award is the Achievement Ribbon. This is awarded for a significant achievement as
deemed appropriate by the ASI’s. Only 5 percent of the cadet corp can receive this ribbon.
The 2024 award winners are:

Cadet Jocylyn Medina
Cadet Dakota Benner
Cadet Kayla Villalobos
Cadet Alayna Zepeda

The next award is the Superior Performance Ribbon. This is awarded for outstanding
achievement or meritorious service rendered specifically on behalf of Air Force Junior ROTC.
It is presented for a single or sustained performance of a superior nature. Only 10 percent of the
cadet corps can receive this ribbon.
The 2024 award winners are:

The next award is the Leadership Ribbon. This is awarded for outstanding performance in a
position of leadership as an AFJROTC cadet. These cadets have consistently displayed
outstanding leadership abilities above and beyond expected performance.
The 2024 award winners are:

The next unit award is the Outstanding Cadet Ribbon. The recipient must be of high moral
character, demonstrate positive personal attributes, display outstanding military potential, and
attain academic and military excellence.
The 2024 award winners are:
First Year Cadet: Cadet Eden Flores
Second Year Cadet: Cadet Cindy Blancas
Third Year Cadet: Juan Blancas
Fourth Year Cadet: Alondra Reyes

The next unit award is the Outstanding Flight Ribbon. The ribbon is awarded each academic term to members of the outstanding flight. These flights were considered for this ribbon for
criteria such as Dress and Appearance, Physical fitness, Drill and Ceremony, and Participation
throughout the school year.

Our final unit ribbon is the Silver Star Community Service with Excellence Award. This
prestigious award recognizes the top 5 percent of all AFJROTC units based on community
service in support of schools and local communities. The award recognizes the personal growth
and accomplishments of the cadets, contributions of the instructors as mentors and the support
of the school and local community. There are 870 AFJROTC units worldwide and only 44 units
received this award. The Vista Unit was one of those 44. The following cadets contributed to CA-953
being awarded the Silver Star Community Service with Excellence award:

Our final two awards are the Aviation Ground School Cadet Badge and the Distinguished AFJROTC
Cadet Badge. The Aviation Honors Ground School Cadet Badge is awarded for completion of the year- long Air Force JROTC Aviation Honors Ground School curriculum prescribed by the FAA and
receiving a passing grade.
The 2024 Aviation Honors Ground School Cadet Badge is presented to:

Cadet Christopher Ware
Our final award is the Distinguished AFJROTC Cadet Badge. This award recognizes one outstanding third-year cadet selected at the end of each school year. The recipient must be of high moral character, demonstrate positive personal attributes, display outstanding military potential, and maintain consistent academic and military excellence.
The 2024 Distinguished AFJROTC Cadet Badge is presented to:
