#WeAreOneUs A Systems Change Movement!

Last month we launched the #WeAreOneUs systems change movement! Here, twenty-one once homeless men and women who have transformed their lives, those who will be known as The Founding Overcomers, signed a pledge, embracing the responsibility of serving and leading a ground-up, community based, and market driven movement, serving the community that served them, and helping other families break free of The Churn.

Guest speaker, Clarence Carter, Director of the Offices of Family Assistance and the Acting Director of the Office of Community Services at HHS’ Administration for Children and Families, joined us virtually from Washington D.C. and illustrated the spirit of the Solutions for Change Overcomers and their personal stories of redemption. He described his visit to Solutions for Change three years ago, and after spending time with our graduates, he left with a perspective that forever changed how he approaches the American Safety Net. “Everybody is capable of that if they are willing and properly supported,” he said.

“We believe that we are at a critical point and time in our history, and that the current top down, one size fits all homelessness response system is such a significant threat, that it threatens the very mission of Solutions for Change.” – Chris Megison, Solutions for Change President & CEO

We invite and encourage you to sign the #WeAreOneUs Pledge, pledging to support this initiative and save families and individuals from The Churn of a rapidly growing cycle of handouts and dependency that traps people into a state of helplessness and victimhood.
