Let’s Talk Strategically Critical Endorsements
Completed questionnaires and candidates statements were distributed on Jan 4. We hope you have had (or will have) an opportunity to review them before Saturday’s endorsement meeting.
As a reminder, we have scheduled endorsements for the following strategically critical races at our upcoming general meeting on Zoom Saturday, January 20th at 9:00am:
Oceanside City Council D4
Oceanside City Treasurer
Carlsbad City Council D2
With check-in and social time starting at 8:45. We expect this meeting to run about 90 minutes.
Register in advance for the meeting today. All are welcome, but only members in good standing (I.E. paid and meeting club requirements) will be able to vote.
Here is the procedure we will be following:
Each candidate will be given two minutes to make the case for their endorsement.
2 questions will be gathered in writing during candidate statements from the audience and asked of all candidates for each position. Please submit your questions in the Zoom chat for consideration.
Candidates will be then be placed in a Zoom waiting room.
As many as 2 one minute comments from members will be allowed in support of each candidate and as many as 2 comments from members will be allowed against each candidate.
Voting will take place after all comments.
“No Endorsement” will always be an option for each position considered.
Endorsements will be made when a candidate achieves 60% of the vote.
The chair may rule that a candidate is endorsed by Unanimous Consent without a vote if there is no objection by a voting member.
Zoom voting will be done by Google Forms (link provided at voting time).
