19th Annual Lab Amore Fundraiser Benefiting Labrador Rescuers

by Teri Alasantro
High Tail it over to the 19th Annual “Lab Amore – Paws for a Cause” fundraiser benefiting the non-profit organization, Labrador Rescuers of San Diego. Their biggest event of the year will be held on Saturday September 16, 2023, from 5:00-9:30 p.m. at The Westin Carlsbad Resort and Spa, 5840 Grand Pacific Drive Carlsbad, California 92008.

Tickets for the event are $200.00 per person and include appetizers, drinks, a gourmet three course dinner, entertainment, complimentary self, or valet parking and five opportunity drawing tickets for exciting prizes.

Guests will be eagerly greeted by some former Labrador Rescuer dogs called “Labassadors” and enjoy the keyboard skills of local musician and dog lover Nathan Suazo.

Enjoy some of the Westin’s delicious appetizers and beverages while strolling through many unique silent auction items. Bid on such items as Autographed Sports Memorabilia, Artwork, Luxury hotel packages, Water Sports, Mountain Retreats and many more.

Once the silent auction has ended guests will be welcomed into the sunset ballroom by auctioneer extraordinaire, Anna Couvrette, to indulge in the excellence of Westin’s local farm to table three course dining experience. A touching “Rainbow Bridge” video will be played honoring all the Labrador Rescuer dogs who have crossed over in the past year.

After dinner, world renowned artist, Amy Burkman, will jump start your creative senses into overdrive with her highly acclaimed live art speed painting performance. Her “surprise” creation inspired by her mission to use “Art for Good” will then kick off the live auction.

Some of those amazing items include an Autographed Bruce Springsteen framed “Born in the USA” Record, 4-night Mammoth trip, VIP Opera package, Napa Wine Experience, and the Labrador Rescuers 2024 Calendar Cover.

The memorable evening will conclude with the “Fund a Need” video showcasing some of the dogs and their medical cases that Labrador Rescuers has saved and helped give them a second “leash” on life, and the opportunity to donate to help save even more dogs in need.

The average cost for one dog rescued from intake to adoption is $900.00 and growing. Labrador Rescuers goal is to raise over $150,000 and welcome more than 150 guests to this special presentation. As a community we can save these dogs lives one “paw” at a time.

Labrador Rescuers takes in Labs and Lab mixes from shelters and owners in San Diego, Orange, and Riverside counties. We provide rescued dogs with needed medical attention, including complicated surgeries. Then placing them in loving foster homes and adopting them out to approved families. We are often a dog’s last chance, especially when they are old, sick, in need
of expensive medical services or require hospice care to enjoy their final days.

Labrador Rescuers is a 100% volunteer run nonprofit. We operate through fundraising and the tireless work of our committed volunteers. Every dollar received goes to the care and support of the dogs we rescue. Your consideration and generosity are genuinely appreciated!
