2019 Community Impact Awards Held- There’s No Place Like Home

The Community Impact Awards is an annual event to honor organizations and individuals from the local community, who work in partnership with North County Lifeline, to make extraordinary contributions to improve the lives of the youth and families they serve. Their awards celebration was held on October 24, 2019 in the downtown Vista location.

Mark Mullen was Master of Ceremonies. He is an Emmy Award-winning, domestic and foreign news correspondent for NBC 7, with over 30 years in the industry. Mark is proud to call San Diego home, and remains dedicated to serving its communities.

Don Stump is the Executive Director of North County Lifeline and has more than 30 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations that serve youth and families in San Diego county. He has led Lifeline as Executive Director since 2007.

Angel Ortiz was the Special Guest & Club Crown Heights Alumni. Angel began attending Club Crown Heights when he was 10 years old, and continued in the program through his senior year of high school. Since then, Angel has completed dual undergraduate degrees in Politics and Legal Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Angel’s plans for the future include helping his family and giving back to his community.

The Honorees of the night included:
Rudy & Elizabeth Van Hunnick – Rudy and Elizabeth are long-time Lifeline supporters and champions of the Club Crown Heights programs. Rudy and Elizabeth were presented with the Community Impact Award for Individuals.
Kaiser Permanente with Max Lobes – Kaiser has provided critical resources to support North county Lifeline’s mission, from grants and event sponsorship to Board leadership. Kaiser Permanente was presented with the Community Impact Award for Organizations.
New Community Church with Pastor Derek Dapena – New Community church has been a tremendous resource for recruiting Lifeline volunteers, as well as raising awareness for Lifeline’s program needs. New community church was presented with the Connector of the Year Award.
The County of San Diego’s child Welfare Services North Region with Kimberly Jardina – Child Welfare Services North Region works hand in hand with North county Lifeline’s case managers to strengthen the youth and families we serve. Their team continues to embody our vision and values. The County of San Diego CWS was presented with the Client Advocate of the Year Award.

North County Lifeline’s staff and volunteers are busy nominating their hard working families for our Adopt-a-Family program.

Adopt-a-Family is a holiday giving program for Lifeline’s hard working yet low-income clients. Local businesses, organizations, and individuals “adopt” clients by purchasing gifts or donating online, to make the holiday season special for so many families.
