On May 11, 2021, the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force (SD HTTF) conducted a demand reduction operation in the City of Encinitas targeting sex buyers and traffickers. SD HTTF arrested a total of 23 adult males for being in violation of “Solicitation of Prostitution.”

The SD HTTF is committed to combating human trafficking by recovering victims and holding their offenders accountable, while also addressing the demand side of the problem. Sex buyers drive the demand for human trafficking, which results in an increase of offenders and victims, and contributes to negative consequences victims of human trafficking endure.

The SD HTTF is comprised of officers and prosecutors from the California Department of Justice, California Highway Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, National City Police Department, San Diego City Attorney’s Office, San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, San Diego County Probation Department, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, San Diego Police Department, and United States Attorney’s Office.

The SDHTTF encourages the public to report human trafficking to their local law enforcement agency or the National Human Trafficking Hotline 1-888-373-7888.
