VISTA, CA — The City of Vista invites the community to experience “Día de los Muertos: A Celebration of Life and Remembrance,” a cross-medium exhibition now on view in the Civic Center Gallery through November 13.
Featuring 26 local artists, the exhibit explores Día de los Muertos through an unusually wide range of materials and techniques. Photography hangs alongside paintings, graphite pieces, and sculptures. These varied mediums help represent the distinct voice and process each artist brings to the tradition, and together they show how many forms remembrance can take.
Rooted in honoring loved ones, memories, culture, and community, the exhibition reflects the ways art connects us to our heritage, our stories, and those we remember.
The public is also invited to attend an artist reception featuring a special performance by the Wabi Sabi Players, a group of seniors from the theatre appreciation class at the Gloria McClellan Senior Center. Their 20-minute performance features an original script and song inspired by “La Llorona,” the legendary weeping woman of Mexican and Latin American folklore. The performance begins at 4:30 p.m.
