CHICO, Calif. – For the first time this season, a Cal State San Marcos men’s basketball player has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week as junior guard Blake Seits earned the honor on Tuesday morning.

Seits was electric for the Cougars in their wins over Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay as he averaged a team-leading 22.0 points per game and a 66.7 3-point field-goal percentage (8-of-12). He shot 62.5% (15-of-24) from the field while earning 5.5 rebounds per game and three total steals.

Against then-second-place CSUEB, Seits scored 16 points with three rebounds and two steals while going 5-of-10 from the field. His best game of the weekend came against CSUMB as he led CSUSM with a season-high 28 points and eight rebounds while shooting 66.7% (6-of-9) from three and 71.4% (10-of-14) overall.

For the year, Seits is posting the second-most points per game for CSUSM at 12.1 while shooting a team-leading 45.1% (37-of-82) from three.

Seits is CSUSM’s ninth CCAA Player of the Week since joining in the league in 2015. Previously, teammates Darae Elliott and Khalil Fuller earned the weekly honor last season. He’s also the third consecutive junior to earn the award for the Cougars.

Seits and the Cougars will hit the road to play a pair of games in Northern California at Humboldt State and Stanislaus State on Thursday and Saturday. Both games will get underway at 7:30 p.m.
