At its June 30, 2021 workshop, the City Council received presentations by two potential operators for a future homeless shelter to be located at 3131 Oceanside Boulevard and selected San Diego Rescue Mission as the shelter operator.

The shelter will operate on a referral system by OPD’s Homeless Outreach Teams, the Oceanside Housing Authority, and other service providers. The facility will include wrap-around services and daytime activities to help people develop a housing plan and assess needed services.

The 50-bed shelter will serve men, women, and families. On-site services will include case management, meals, showers, basic needs, counseling, computer lab, laundry facility, legal services, bus passes, etc.

The shelter is intended to provide a pathway towards permanent housing, income, healthcare, and stability through continued care services.
