Cello Virtuoso Tina Guo April 29th

Escondido, Ca. – April 19, 2018- Cello virtuoso Tina Guo, along with the San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra (SDCYO), will be performing classical pieces as well as some of Tina Guo’s most popular hits at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 7pm!

Tina Guo is an internationally acclaimed and Grammy nominated acoustic/electric cellist, recording artist, and composer.

Born in Shanghai, Guo was first taught by her mother, Fei-Fei Soong, then her father, Lu-Yan Guo, a cellist in the Shanghai Symphony. The family moved to San Diego when Tina was 7 and later attended Poway High School before being accepted into the Thornton School of Music at USC on full scholarship. Guo is also a SDCYO alumna, who performed the Saint-Saëns cello concerto with the Symphony Orchestra when she was 10 years old.

Guo has had an amazing musical career including performing alongside Johnny Marr of the Smiths and Hans Zimmer at the Premiere of Inception, and in a sold-out concert for DreamWorks with Hans Zimmer and John Powell, featuring her as soloist on electric cello and erhu. With a multi-faceted career and mastery in a wide range of genres, her passion for musical exploration, artistic expression, and technology are expressed through live performance and visual media.

Guo’s solos have been featured on the movie scores of Wonder Woman, Sherlock Holmes, Inception, Iron Man 2, Batman vs Superman, Pirates of the Caribbean 5, and many others!

SDCYO will also be accepting donations at the concert to support various educational and musical goals of their program.
