Sacramento’s Crystal Palace

There are two schools of thought in Sacramento
Most come into the State Capitol with an attitude of “I know what’s best for you.” And that’s how they vote, no matter what the consequences are to your family or pocketbook.

Instead, we need more members of our legislature who believe that you know what is best for your family, and that our state laws need to stop making your life more expensive and more complicated. Californians have been leaving the state in droves, and this trend is continuing. Just to give you an idea of what has been passed in the last couple of years.

SB404 and SB1228 have imposed new restrictions on rules on small businesses that have forced many to close and resulted in 22,000 lost jobs.

SB1340 opens up small businesses to more lawsuits on discrimination, which could lead to confusion in local legal authorities plus will also greatly increase liability which will be costly to defend against.

SB399 unfairly interferes with an employer’s ability to interact and discuss important labor issues with their employees.

SB961 adds unnecessary requirements to vehicles sold in the state, making them not only more expensive but potentially invades your privacy.

SB436 (temporarily defeated but still in play) forces mom and pop landlords to subsidize tenants who are delinquent on their rent for two weeks.

And let’s not forget the intransigence and obstinacy of the Governor and most of the Assembly and Senate to not properly fund law enforcement to execute Prop 36, an anti-crime proposition that California voters approved by a 2-1 margin.

Those bills above I mentioned? Those are Senate bills approved by California Democrats who don’t think through the consequences of their actions.

California’s unemployment is over a full point higher than the national average. We sit in the bottom 20% of business climate and cost of doing business. It’s a big reason why more people have permanently moved away than made California their home.
