For more than two decades, one of Oceanside’s largest employers has been helping introduce its employees to local restaurants, retailers and small businesses throughout our community.
In 2026, the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce and Genentech celebrated the 21st year of Genentech Goes to Town, a unique shop local partnership that began in Oceanside in 2006.
The concept is simple. Each year, Genentech provides employees with $25 in special “GenenMoney” and encourages them to spend it at participating Oceanside businesses. The businesses then redeem the GenenMoney through the Oceanside Chamber for reimbursement. But the impact goes well beyond the $25 per employee.
An employee may use GenenMoney toward lunch with coworkers, dinner with a spouse or a purchase at a local retailer. In many cases, the GenenMoney becomes the starting point for a larger transaction. More importantly, it introduces employees……
