The City of Oceanside is hosting two meetings to collect community input on potential improvements to the Melba Bishop Park and Center. The first meeting is on Tuesday, February 24, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Melba Bishop Community Center. If you cannot attend that meeting, there is a second meeting on Wednesday, February 25, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. There are $500,000 available for improvements, and Oceanside residents are invited to attend either of the two meetings to share their priorities.

There are a number of improvements that are needed in the park, including replacing a couple of the infields, installing nets to prevent foul balls from going into North River Road, replacing the DG areas around the pickleball courts, adding lights to pickleball courts 1 to 3, adding lights to the skate park, resurfacing the basketball courts, installing a volleyball court, adding security cameras, replacing the scoreboards in the gym. These meetings will also provide an opportunity to hear more ideas to improve the park. We are pleased to share that in the next couple of months, 44 new solar-powered lights will be installed to help illuminate walkways.

For more information about the meetings, please contact our Parks and Recreation Administration at (760)435-5041 or by e-mail RecAdmin@oceansideca.org.
