ach year, Oceanside has the opportunity to do something simple, yet incredibly meaningful: say thank you to those who faithfully serve our country.
On May 17, the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce will once again host Armed Forces Day Operation Appreciation at the Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater, our community’s long-standing tradition dedicated to honoring active-duty military personnel and their families. Now in its third decade, this event has become a strong reflection of who we are as a community and the values we share.
Oceanside’s connection to the military runs deep. With Camp Pendleton just to our north, the presence of service members and their families is woven into the fabric of our city. They are our neighbors, our customers, our volunteers, and in many cases, our friends. Operation Appreciation exists to recognize that connection actively.

What makes this event special is the intentionality behind it. Everything about the day is designed with one purpose in mind: to create an environment where military families feel welcomed and appreciated by the Oceanside community.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the amphitheater and surrounding area transform into a space filled with energy, activity, and connection. The opening ceremony brings together elected officials, military leadership, and community representatives to formally recognize the sacrifices made by those who serve. It is a moment of reflection and community pride for those in uniform and for all of us who support them.
As the day progresses, children enjoy the fun zone, music fills the air, and conversations happen naturally between service members and the civilians who support them.
